With crisp evenings and clear skies, we couldn’t have asked for better weather. The nights were lit by bright stars that seemed to shine just a bit extra for our campout. As Scouts settled into their tents, they could hear the soft hoots of owls echoing through the trees, adding an extra layer of wilderness to the experience.
Our Scouts dived into a full schedule of activities, starting with pumpkin carving. This creative station was bustling as Cubs scooped, carved, and designed their own unique jack-o'-lanterns. Laughter filled the air as everyone showcased their artistic sides, with some pumpkins coming out spooky and others just plain silly!
Fishing by the lake was another big hit, where some Scouts caught their very first fish. With a backdrop of colorful trees reflecting in the water, it was the perfect setting for our young anglers to try their luck. The excitement on their faces as they held up their catches was priceless—a moment of triumph and bonding with nature.
Next up was archery, where Scouts took turns aiming for the bullseye and learning about focus and precision. At the whittling station, they practiced safe knife techniques, creating small woodcraft projects they could be proud of. The first aid activities taught them essential skills, giving everyone the confidence to be ready for any small emergencies in the great outdoors.
As the sun dipped below the treetops, it was time for the Halloween festivities to kick into high gear! Scouts changed into their costumes and went Tent-or-Treating around the campsite, collecting candy and showing off their Halloween spirit.
Then came the main event: the Haunted Trail. Thanks to our Webelos and Arrow of Light Scouts, the trail was filled with spooky scenes and surprises, giving everyone a safe but thrilling Halloween scare. The creativity and effort they put into the trail were impressive, making it a highlight of the night!
After the Halloween fun, everyone gathered around the campfire to wind down. There’s nothing quite like a campfire on a chilly fall night—perfect for roasting marshmallows and making gooey s’mores. Scouts and leaders swapped stories, sang songs, and soaked in the warmth of the flames.
Above us, the night sky was dazzling, with stars twinkling brightly and casting a soft glow over the campsite. We even heard the distant call of an owl, reminding us of the beauty and serenity of being in nature.
