Assistant Cubmaster

Amelia Beatty, the Assistant Cubmaster for Cub Scout Pack 205 in Apex, North Carolina, is passionate about providing children with outdoor experiences and creative opportunities. As a volunteer for Scouting, she says it has been an amazing journey to be able to help young people embrace their curiosity and take control of their own learning.

When she's not volunteering with Scouting, Amelia enjoys reading. She also loves going for hikes in the woods and exploring new places.

Amelia is a creative, kind and smart person who loves learning about the world around her. Her enthusiasm for making an impact on children's lives is inspiring and evident in everything she does. Amelia believes that Scouting is a great way for kids to gain confidence, learn important life skills and make lasting friendships. Amelia's enthusiasm and dedication to Cub Scouts Pack 205 is an inspiration to many.

Assistant Cubmaster

At least one assistant Cubmaster should be able to replace the Cubmaster's position in case of an emergency. The assistant Cubmaster is recommended by the Cubmaster, approved by the pack committee and chartered organization, and registered as an adult leader of the BSA.

Qualifications

  • Be a U.S. citizen at least 21 years of age, appointed by the chartered organization and registered as an adult leader of the BSA.
  • A person of good character, familiar with organization procedures, with a deep concern for the pack's success.
  • Completes and maintains up-to-date position specific training and Youth Protection Training (YPT).

Responsibilities

  • Help the Cubmaster as needed. Be ready to fill in for the Cubmaster, if necessary.
  • Complete Cubmaster Fast Start Training and position-specific Basic Leader Training.
  • Attend monthly roundtables.
  • Participate in pack meetings to assist Cubmaster.
  • Supervise den chiefs and verify that they are properly trained for the rank they are assisting.
  • Conduct the monthly Den planning portion of the Committee meeting for all den leaders, assistant den leaders, and den chiefs. Plan and coordinate promotion of regular den meetings and pack meeting participation.
  • Work with neighborhood troops that supply den chiefs. Work with District Executive if necessary.
  • Identify area BSA troops into which Webelos Scouts may graduate.
  • Help inform pack leaders of training opportunities and arrange for them to attend training sessions.
  • Work with the pack committee to develop and promote an ongoing plan for recruiting new boys.
  • Help with pack activities, such as dinners, derbies, bike safety workshops, service projects, etc.
  • Work with the pack committee on outings to see that the pack and dens qualify for the National Summertime Pack Award.
  • Participate in the annual pack program planning conference and pack leaders' meetings.
  • Promote the religious emblems program.
